Kick Off Meeting, 19-21 February 2014 - Siena

From the 19th to the 21st of February 2014 the first ECOVET meeting took place in Siena, at the Chamber of Commerce. The meeting opened a debate at European level around qualifications related to green jobs. The meeting aimed at enhancing employability and adaptability of people, mobility of workers and recognizing periods of learning exchange abroad.

The kick off meeting gathered all the project partners for the first time: the meeting has been useful to lay the foundation for the pursuit of the goals of the project expected by Ecovet. The partnership will be committed to the project until September 2015. During the meeting there was a brief presentation of all partners and the project. Afterwards, the VET systems of each of the 6 European countries participating in the project were presented.

In particular, the debate was mainly focused on the Ecovet project: (i) the implementation of the ECVET system; (ii) the training of a professional manager who works in the green sector and who is specialised in energy saving.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to present the tools for internal and external communication provided by the project as well as the management rules and tools.

The kick off meeting ended with a press conference attended by the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Siena, Massimo Guasconi and the local commissioner of Education, Training and Labour of the Province of Siena, Simonetta Pellegrini. At this stage, Eurobic Toscana Sud (Eurobic Tuscany South), as coordinating partner, has carried out a presentation of the project.

As pointed out by the President Guasconi the comparison with other European countries and their best practices is an opportunity of growth for our territory, especially in times of transition and redefinition of our growth and economic model. Similarly, the commissioner Pellegrini has highlighted how the project Ecovet represents a positive opportunity of exchange and collaboration for the development of green jobs, a sector that is growing more and more. It is also an opportunity to share learning experiences in different countries for those people who move across Europe, in order to increase job opportunities related to energy and environmental issues.
